How to purchase a Licence on behalf of clients?
I provide two solutions for purchasing licences on behalf of clients.
Client makes the purchase 1 Select the desired licences from the → shop 2 Click the GENERATE PDF OFFER button located below the cart 3 You can share this PDF offer with your client 4 The PDF offer includes a URL which directs your client to the checkout 5 Your client can then fill in their details and complete the purchase
You make the purchase for the client 1 Before making the purchase, transfer the → licence agreement to your client. 2 Your client must accept the → licence agreement 3 At the checkout, select the option This Licence is for: ‘my Client’. 4 Enter your client’s name in the Licence Holder field.
These steps are essential because your client will become the Licence Holder, and they must agree to the licence agreement as a contractual obligation.
Please note that these licences are for your client’s use only.
You cannot install or use the font on your own computers or in your office.
If you’re a design agency creating a client’s brand, you can add the Contractor Extension to the Desktop Licence.
This allows your client (the Licence Holder) to provide you (the Contractor) with the desktop fonts to design their brand.
Remember, you (Contractor) can only use the fonts for that client.
After the project is finished, you (Contractor) must delete the fonts.
For more details, see the Licensing Summary.

Can I resell your fonts?
Resales, including to your clients, are not permitted.
You may charge for your design work, reviewing licence agreements, and ensuring compliance.
However, as an independent type foundry, I do not allow markups only for the font itself.
I work directly with business customers, providing comprehensive invoicing services.
Luzi Type accommodates purchase orders and bank transfers.
I am happy to assist customers throughout the purchasing process.
After completing a purchase, fonts are promptly set up in the online system, granting convenient access to fonts, purchase receipts, and order history.
Due to this policy, I do not offer reseller discounts.
As a result, the prices remain the same for everyone, ensuring fairness and consistency across the board.

What do 20k or 5m mean in the context of Web Licences?
In Web Licences, the numbers 20k and 5m indicate the monthly page-view limits for your websites. When I refer to 20k, it means 20,000 monthly page views, with ‘k’ representing thousands. Likewise, 5m represents 5 million monthly page views, with ‘m’ indicating million. These figures help determine the appropriate Web Licence based on the level of web traffic your websites receive.

How many Applications can I create with an App Licence?
An App Licence is specific to a single Application.
This means that the Licence covers an Application that maintains functional equivalence across multiple mobile operating systems, such as iOS, Android, and Windows 11.
Each unique Application requires its own App Licence.

Do you offer unlimited apps?
In the shop, you can purchase an unlimited number of apps.
Please note that this applies to functionally different apps.
However, suppose you have a single application that is functionally equal, and you want to distribute it across multiple mobile operating systems, such as iOS, Android, and Windows 11. In that case, you can do so with a single licence.
This unlimited option is particularly beneficial for corporate requirements.

I want to build an additional app. Can I upgrade my licence?
In short, it depends.
I’m doing my best to make this as easy to understand as possible.
The App Licence cost is simple: there are no discounts for purchasing multiple App Licences.
If you need an additional licence, you just buy another one.
For example, one App Licence costs 200 CHF, and two App Licences cost 400 CHF.
You can upgrade your licence in the following ways:
– From font weights to the whole font family (like from Cádiz Light to Cádiz Family)
If you purchased an App Licence for a single font weight and now need the complete font family, you can upgrade it.

Test font licence is for internal evaluation and private client presentations.
Test fonts cannot be used publicly in final products.
For full use, purchase the appropriate licence.
Students can use test fonts for their school or university projects. If students want to use these fonts publicly, they need a student licence.
The test font package contains all my published typefaces in desktop (.otf) and web (.woff2) formats.
Each test font family name ends with ‘TEST FONT’.
The test fonts include complete spacing, kerning, alternate glyphs, and ligatures.
Test fonts have a limited character set; below is a list showing included and excluded characters:
Test versions are provided to help you determine if a font is suitable for your project.
They are free and accessible to everyone.
However, I have to limit the number of characters included in test versions.
I cannot provide the complete font for testing purposes.
To ensure fairness for all users, I do not make any exceptions to this rule.
I strive to present the fonts as clearly as possible, offering these resources:
– Test fonts with a limited character set
– Online font tester with the complete character set and all OpenType features
– Specimens showcasing an overview of the character set
– Detailed font samples
– Real-life examples from clients
Additionally, I offer individual font weights for purchase in the shop, starting from 75 CHF.
If needed, you can initially buy single font weights and later upgrade to the complete font family.
You can upgrade in the following ways:
– From font weight(s) to the whole font family (like from Cádiz Light to Cádiz Family)
– Desktop: Increase the number of licensed computers
– Web: Increase the number of monthly page views
The upgrade price is calculated based on the difference between the new licences and your current licences.
Please note that the following scenarios do not qualify as upgrades:
– Upgrading from a Web Licence to a Desktop or App Licence
– Adding different font weights to an existing single weight
– Transitioning from a font family to individual font weights
– Switching from one font family to another (like from Cádiz to Messina Sans)

How can I use Test Versions?
Test font licences are only for trying out a typeface.
You can use them for internal evaluation and for private client presentations.
You cannot use these test fonts publicly in any final product or project, regardless of format.
For use beyond testing, purchase the appropriate full licence matching your intended use.
Students can use test fonts for their school or university projects. If students want to use these fonts publicly, they need a student licence.
A test licence, like all font licences, forms a legal contract between Luzi Type and you, the Licence Holder.
Sharing these test fonts with others is not allowed.
For more detailed information, please refer to the Test Font Licence Agreement.

Do your fonts have OpenType features?
Yes, the fonts do have OpenType features. You can explore and discover these features by checking the last page of the specimens.
You can find the specimens in the subpages of each font.
Additionally, you can also test the OpenType features using the type tester available on each subpage.

How do I use Alternate Glyphs?
Some of the fonts offer different versions of specific letters, such as a lowercase g resembling a lowercase y or an uppercase Z with a stroke. You can access these alternate glyphs using the OpenType feature called Stylistic Set.
In Adobe InDesign, you can find the Stylistic Sets options by following these steps: 1 Go to the Character panel in the menu 2 Click on the options menu (represented by three dots or a small arrow) 3 Select OpenType from the menu 4 Choose Stylistic Sets and select the desired set, such as Set 1
In Adobe Illustrator, you can find the Stylistic Sets options by following these steps: 1 Go to the Type menu 2 Select OpenType from the panel 3 Look for the button that resembles the letter a in lowercase and click on it
Other design software may also support Stylistic Sets.
It’s best to refer to your program’s user manual and search for terms like Stylistic Set or OpenType Features for specific instructions on accessing and using alternate glyphs.

Do your fonts work with Microsoft Office?
Yes, my fonts are compatible with Microsoft Office, and you can use features like the italic button and bold button (style linking).
Please keep in mind that when using Word or PowerPoint on Windows, the italic option may not appear in the font menu.
This is normal because styles are linked. However, you can still access italics by using the italic button.
In Microsoft Office on Windows, kerning is turned off by default.
I recommend manually enabling kerning for better spacing between letters.
You can do this by going to the font Panel and navigating to the Advanced section.

Can I embed fonts in MS Office documents?
Yes, it is technically possible to embed fonts in MS Office documents, but I would not recommend doing so.
There are two aspects to consider when embedding fonts in MS Office documents.
First, the legal aspect:
You are allowed to embed fonts in MS Office documents, such as PowerPoint presentations, but these documents can only be used on the computers where you have a Desktop Licence for the fonts.
Sharing the embedded font documents with others is not permitted, as the font licences are granted to a single organisation (Licence Holder).
Second, the technical aspect:
Embedding fonts in MS Office documents, especially in programs like Word, can cause issues.
It increases the file size of your documents, which can become a problem over time.
Furthermore, font embedding may not work consistently across different versions of MS Office.
I cannot provide support for font embedding in MS Office.
Please do it the conventional way: get a Desktop Licence, install the font on your computers, and use it in programs like Word.

Adobe stops supporting PostScript fonts. Is this a problem for Luzi Type fonts?
Adobe’s decision to discontinue support for PostScript fonts does not affect Luzi Type fonts.
Our desktop fonts are delivered in OpenType (.OTF) format by default. Additionally, the Desktop variable fonts are delivered in TrueType format (.TTF).
These formats are widely accepted and considered industry standards.
They are compatible with various software applications and operating systems.
You can expect my fonts to work seamlessly, with no compatibility issues, for many years to come.

Language
How many languages are supported by the typefaces?
A growing list of my typefaces supports even more languages.
I call this standard Latin Complete.
You can use the typeface in most languages in the Americas, Europe, and Australia, as well as in many African languages and even in some Asian languages, such as Vietnamese.
You can find the language support for each typeface on the subpages.
Please note: none of the typefaces support other script systems, such as Cyrillic, Arabic, Hebrew, Greek, Hanzi (Chinese), Kanji, Hiragana, or Hangul.

Can I purchase fewer licences than what is shown in the shop?
The minimum quantity for a Desktop Licence is 3 computers. This means that you can use the licence on up to three computers. If you require fewer licences, the price remains the same within this price bracket. The pricing structure for the number of computers is fixed and cannot be altered.
The same applies to the Web Licence and the monthly page views.

You can upgrade in the following ways:

– Web: Increase the number of monthly page views
The upgrade price is calculated based on the difference between the new licences and your current licences.

– Upgrading from a Web Licence to a Desktop or App Licence
– Adding different font weights to an existing single weight
– Transitioning from a font family to individual font weights

This division is necessary to achieve the best interpolation and ensure optimal font performance.

Are variable fonts compatible with my Design Application?
Variable fonts are currently supported by Adobe InDesign 2020, Illustrator CC 2019, and Photoshop CC 2019. In addition to the variable font version, each font also includes a Standard Version with individual font weights (Desktop-, Web-, or App font). This ensures compatibility across various uses.
While web browsers generally display variable fonts well, there may be some bugs and rendering issues within Design Applications.
However, software providers like Adobe are actively updating their software and addressing any compatibility issues.
